About Emma
Emma Lomman is a web designer/web developer who finds writing about herself in third person strange but oddly entertaining. She is currently undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media at Tasmanian Polytechnic. Her major project for 2010 is the creation of an online gallery to promote and sell digital art, web templates and CMS themes.
I like the weirdness of the above paragraph, so it's become my signature bio start. However, to resume in my own voice...
Outside of classes I breed dairy goats, write science fiction and fantasy and tinker with computers. I also maintain the official website of the Dairy Goat Society of Australia and regularly post on my blog The Daily ALIEN.
When I'm working, I use whatever software comes to hand and seems to suit the situation. At various times I've used the following:
- Coding/development: Adobe Dreamweaver, Kompozer, Crimson Editor, Notepad, GEdit, Wordpress, Joomla!
- Design: Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks, Gimp.
- Image manipulation: Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks and Illustrator, Gimp, Inkscape, Xara, Compiz Fusion.
- Documentation/project management: OpenOffice.org, Microsoft Office, LionWiki, dotProject.
I usually create wireframes, content outlines and site structure diagrams on a whiteboard before re-creating them on a computer.
